Technology for 21st Century Learners
In putting together this presentation, I found it difficult, having never done a power point before. I started by using the tutorials and through trial and error I was able to put it together. Five effective ways of a presentation are: ( Information); giving meaning to how integration is effective, and how it applies to real life. (Clarity) in what is being addressed is shown in (simple), (brief) terms, such as Media Literacy, so the audience (humanity) is aware of the intended focus.

Education & Technology
As I consider the use of technology in the classroom, I am a little apprehensive with the amount of exposure to the world of the internet accessible to children. There are many available search engines which can result in harmful effects, if used improperly.
One the other hand, students enjoy using this fun, effective learning tool where there are
many opportunities for the acquisition of information and knowledge. Communication is enhanced
with different programs, resulting in student engagement. For example, students can search and find
information which can be used in group discussions.
This tool can be used across subjects to enhance the learning and engagement of students.
Thought can be stimulated by the easy access to various programs. Group work and interaction is supported by immediate responses through e-mail, facebook, blogging, etc.
I am encouraged as I become more acquainted with technology, for I realize more and more the benefits of using this stimulating and effective tool.

Introduction
Hi,my name is Pat Leavitt. This source of communication is very new to me. I hope I click the right buttons to post this on the right page. I am from American Fork, Utah in the U.S. I attended Brigham Young University where I started my education in nursing; but because of marriage and children, and new Canadian residences, I did not complete it. Now my children are gone! Through experiences with them and the school system, as an Educational Assistant, my interest is now teaching.
I enjoy outdoor activities: boating, water skiing, horse back riding and snow skiing. Participating with my family in any activity, whether outdoor or indoor, brings a great deal of satisfaction and joy. My husband and I enjoyed being with our family this last summer as we all flew to Orlando and enjoyed the sights of Disneyworld. We enjoy traveling, and Mexico was fantastic also, as we saw many sights and participated in many activities.
My husband and I enjoy participating in an exchange program for foreign students. This year we have a student from Tieland. She will be with us for 2 months, then she will live with 4 other families throughout the school year. What a great way to become acquainted with another culture and to share in her experiences.
We went to Uganda 3 years ago for humanitarian service through Rotary. That was a life - changing experience. It was wonderful to feel the gratitude of the people and to experience their culture.
I enjoy being part of the directing staff of the Raymond High School Show Choir. I have headed the choreography area and have enjoyed seeing students excell in the performing arts. Through this program I have seen students find a place in the community and continue with confidence in other aspects of their lives.
I am excited to be in the ed. program because I want to positively influence children and adolescence.
